TV Says No Signal: Check the Source and HDMI Connection
Start with the selected input and connected device. A TV signal message is different from an error inside a streaming app.
If No Signal appears after selecting HDMI, begin with the source device and connection. Sony explains that the message can appear when an input receives no signal from an active device. Changing Wi-Fi credentials or reinstalling an app is not the first check when the television cannot display the device's interface.
Can you see the television menus?
Open the television's own menu with its remote. If it appears, identify the physical input used by the streamer, such as HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, and select it. Check that the source device is powered on with its intended power supply; switching on the TV alone is insufficient.
If the streamer's interface appears but one video fails inside an app, that is different from a missing HDMI signal. Record the app error and try another programme before continuing cable tests.
Compare cables and inputs
Sony's no-picture troubleshooting includes checking HDMI connections and trying another cable or input. Turn equipment off before reconnecting and seat both ends without force. When moving the cable, also change the selected television input.
- Change only one cable or port per test.
- If available, test another working source on the same input.
- Record which combinations restore the picture.
If the message remains
Check both manuals for compatible output formats. If even the television menus are absent, follow the manufacturer's power and display troubleshooting because HDMI tests do not cover that situation. Avoid opening equipment or factory-resetting it before identifying the fault. The source, cable and port comparisons help support staff avoid replacing working components.
